Discussing Consular Matters
On June 24, representatives of Russia and Japan met in Tokyo for an exchange with one another regarding consular matters. They discussed how to speed up the implementation of an agreement signed by Russia and Japan in January 2012, which would facilitate the issuing of visas to Russian and Japanese citizens, and enhance mutual respect for the rights and interests of citizens and legal entities.
The two sides looked at how to best organize the workflow of overseas consular missions, including during times of emergency. They also discussed matters concerning the issuing of visas as well as current issues associated with civil and family law.
The consultations, held in an atmosphere of frank and constructive dialogue, demonstrated the commitment of both parties to further strengthening their relations in the consular sphere and they agreed to hold the next round of talks in Moscow.
